The Four Languages is starting to gather people, in person and online. In every gathering, people explore the Mind, the Heart, the Body and the Soul with their hands, bodies, voices and thinking, and grow their own root system from all of it: a system that makes more space in their life for meaning, curiosity and joy. The first ones happen in Mexico City.
We're bringing together the people who hold those experiences, wherever you are in the world.
Every gathering gives all four a place. People move between all four, including the one they would never have picked for themselves.
Turn a card over to see how wide each language goes.
Air
Mind
The language of learning
Most people hear "Mind" and think of intellect. IQ tests. Being "smart." But the Mind language is so much wider than that. It is how you learn. How you make sense of the world. How you spot patterns, build frameworks, solve problems, and create things that do not yet exist through the sheer force of thought.
Fire
Heart
The language of connection
Emotions, creativity, art, music, passion, desire, vulnerability, play, connection with people and animals, self-expression, and the fire that makes life vivid. All of it belongs to Heart.
Earth
Body
The language of sensation
The Body language speaks through physical sensation, nervous system regulation, movement, rest, nourishment, sensory experience, gut feelings, building and making with your hands, sexuality and sensuality, and your entire relationship with the tangible, material world.
Water
Soul
The language of depth
Soul language exists across religions and outside them. Atheists have it too. It shows up as awe standing at the edge of the ocean. It shows up in flow states where time disappears and you feel aligned with something bigger than your to-do list. It shows up in moments of deep knowing, when you look at a decision and your whole being says "yes" or "no" before you have a single logical reason.
What every gathering has
1
Everyone takes part
From the first minute it's hands, bodies and voices, with nobody sitting back to watch.
2
People cross over
The techie ends up on the mat, the bodybuilder at the pottery wheel, the painter building their own system.
3
It's never the same twice
The places, the people and the order of the languages change every time.
A menu of experiences
Some gatherings are an evening where everyone teaches each other something. Some are a full day of building, a weekend of making, eight weeks with the same group, a big house full of corners, or a day inside a company. Some happen online.
Your answers go into a menu of experiences, and each gathering is put together from it. The Four Languages was founded by Maaria Tiensivu and is growing into a team of practitioners, licensed builders and facilitators, in Mexico City first and then other cities.
Your application
Seven short steps. Answer in whatever language you think in. If you hold more than one experience, send one application for each.
Atlas
of mind, heart, body and soul
A map of practices and experiences to try, and where to find them close to you.
Once you say yes to being listed, your name sits in the Atlas under its page, with a link to your work.
Most people hear "Mind" and think of intellect. IQ tests. Being "smart." But the Mind language is so much wider than that. It is how you learn. How you make sense of the world. How you spot patterns, build frameworks, solve problems, and create things that do not yet exist through the sheer force of thought.
The Mind is the part of you that reads a book and reorganizes your entire understanding of a topic. It is the part that walks into a new city and immediately starts mapping it. It is what makes you stay up until 2am researching something because you simply have to understand how it works.
The element: Air
Mind's element is Air. Think about air for a moment. Not as a scientific concept, but as a felt experience. Air is boundless. It is expansive. It moves freely. It has no inherent container, no fixed shape. It flows between people, through spaces, across borders. This is the nature of thought itself.
When you understand the states of Air, you understand the states of your Mind:
The four states of Air
Clear air = mental clarity, fresh perspective. That feeling after a breakthrough, when everything suddenly makes sense. The crispness of a morning where your thinking is sharp and unburdened.
Scattered air = confusion, distraction, too many thoughts. When your attention is pulled in fifteen directions at once. You start one thing, drift to another, forget what you were doing. The air has no direction.
Trapped air = stagnation, mental fog, suffocation. When the same thoughts loop endlessly without going anywhere. The feeling of being stuck in your own head with no exit. The air has stopped moving.
Turbulent air = mental chaos, overthinking storms. When thoughts come so fast and so violently that you cannot catch any single one. Anxiety lives here. Overwhelm lives here. The air has become destructive.
Air also represents breath, space, communication, and the movement of ideas between people. When you speak your thoughts aloud, you are literally giving your ideas to the air. When someone's words reach you and change how you see things, that is air moving between two minds. Conversations, books, exchanges of ideas: all air in motion.
Right now, as you read this, notice the state of your air. Is it clear? Scattered? Trapped? Turbulent? Simply noticing is the beginning of working with this element instead of being pulled around by it.
The essence: meaning-making
Mind is the tool of meaning-making. It is the capacity to think, analyze, create narratives, and explore infinite possibilities. It is the architect of understanding, the creator of languages, systems, and frameworks.
Here is something most people miss: the Mind has no inherent boundaries. It can imagine worlds that do not exist. It can discover patterns that do. It can conceive of infinity, hold paradoxes, build cathedrals of pure abstraction. No other language does this. Heart feels. Body senses. Soul knows. But Mind creates understanding from the raw material the other three provide.
Mind's core function
Mind creates stories about experience. It takes raw data from the other languages and interprets, analyzes, and assigns meaning. Your body aches, and Mind tells you whether that means "I am getting old" or "I worked hard today." Your heart breaks, and Mind tells you whether that means "I will never love again" or "This is what it costs to care deeply." This narrative capacity is both Mind's greatest gift and its deepest danger.
Mind's unique gift
Of all four languages, Mind alone holds the ability to create what does not yet exist. Not physically, that is Body's territory. But conceptually. Mind can conceive of democracy before any government is formed. It can write a poem that makes a stranger weep a thousand years later. It can discover that E = mc² and change the shape of history.
Mind created mathematics, poetry, philosophy, and every abstract system that organizes human experience. It builds bridges of understanding between people through shared concepts. When you explain your inner world to someone and they actually understand you, that is Mind's gift at work: translating the untranslatable into language that connects.
The Mind's full territory
Learning, curiosity, pattern recognition, strategy, problem-solving, frameworks, beliefs, culture, making sense of the world, teaching, explaining, imagination, and creating what does not yet exist through thought.
Notice how broad that list is. Strategy is Mind. But so is imagination. Pattern recognition is Mind. But so is culture. The Mind is not cold or purely logical. It is the lens through which you organize reality itself.
You are in Mind language when...
Learning to recognize when you are speaking through your Mind language is a foundational skill. You are in Mind when you are:
Actively thinking, analyzing, or learning. You are processing information, not just receiving it. Your internal engine is running.
Solving problems or working through decisions. That focused energy you bring to figuring something out, that is Mind at work.
Engaging in strategy or planning. Looking at the pieces, imagining the moves, thinking steps ahead.
Creating mental frameworks or systems. When you naturally organize information into structures that make sense to you.
Teaching or explaining concepts. Translating what you know into forms that help someone else understand.
Experiencing mental stimulation. The buzz of a new idea, the satisfaction of a solved puzzle. Not emotional, not physical. Purely intellectual aliveness.
The key distinction: Mind stimulation feels different from emotional intensity (Heart) or physical sensation (Body). It is the electricity of ideas, not the warmth of connection or the grounding of the body. When you know which language you are in, you can choose which one you need.
Signs your Mind is strong
When your Mind language is well-developed and actively nourished, you will recognize some of these patterns in yourself:
You love learning for its own sake. Not because you need a certificate, but because understanding things brings you genuine satisfaction. You have probably gone down rabbit holes that had no practical purpose other than the joy of knowing.
You build systems naturally. When you encounter chaos, your instinct is to create order. You create spreadsheets nobody asked for. You develop personal frameworks for decisions. You organize information into categories because scattered data makes you uncomfortable.
You explain things well. People come to you when they need something complex broken down. You can take a tangled concept and lay it out step by step so someone else can follow. Teaching feels natural, even if you have never done it formally.
You spot patterns others miss. You see connections between seemingly unrelated things. You notice when something is trending before the trend has a name. You can read a situation and understand the underlying structure faster than most people around you.
You get energized by complexity. Where other people feel overwhelmed by a multifaceted problem, you feel engaged. The more moving pieces, the more interesting the puzzle becomes.
Signs your Mind is neglected
When the Mind is not getting what it needs, the signals are just as clear:
Brain fog. Not the kind from poor sleep, but the kind that comes from intellectual starvation. Your thinking feels muddy. You struggle to articulate what you mean. Ideas that used to come easily now require enormous effort.
Chronic boredom. Not the restful kind, not a quiet afternoon. The existential kind. The feeling that nothing is stimulating enough, that you are going through motions without engaging your actual intelligence.
Loss of curiosity. You used to want to know how things worked. Now you do not care. A new idea comes across your feed and you scroll past it without a second thought. The spark that used to make you dig deeper has gone quiet.
Feeling intellectually alone. Nobody around you wants to talk about the things that interest you at the depth that interests you. You have watered down your thinking so many times to fit conversations that you have started to forget what your actual thinking sounds like.
The Mind is not optional
When people say "I'm not really a thinker, I'm more of a feeler," they are usually describing a Mind that has been neglected for so long it feels foreign. Every person has a Mind language. Every person needs it. The question is whether yours is getting what it needs.
This module will help you understand your relationship with your Mind. Not to judge it as good or bad, but to see it clearly. Because you cannot strengthen what you cannot see.
Heart's Element: Fire
Heart's element is fire. Think about what fire does: it warms, it illuminates, it transforms everything it touches. It is both life and death. It creates and destroys. Left unattended, it consumes everything: relationships, energy, self. But with intention, it becomes the source of life itself: warmth, nourishment, transformation.
Fire exists in many states, and so does your Heart:
Warming fire: nurturing love, creative spark, life-giving warmth. The hearth that draws people close.
Wildfire: uncontrolled passion, destructive rage, burning everything in its path. Beautiful and terrifying.
Dying ember: burnout, exhaustion, passion fading to ash. The fire that nobody tended.
Controlled flame: mastered passion, intentional expression, sustained creativity. The fire that warms without consuming.
Fire clears dead wood to make space for new growth. It is the sun that sustains all living things. Fire's nature is powerful, passionate, beautiful, and magnetic. It draws people in. It changes everything it touches. It cannot be still; it must move, react, express, transform.
This is Heart.
The Essence of Heart
When most people hear "Heart," they think emotions. Feelings. Maybe love. That is part of it, but Heart is so much larger than that. The Heart language is the entire territory of how you connect, create, feel, express, play, and bring warmth into the world.
Heart is the reactor, the responder, the fire that makes life feel like something. It is your emotional and expressive capacity: the raw experience of being alive, the surge of feeling that arises in response to life. Heart does not think or witness. It reacts. It feels. It expresses. It is the soundtrack of life, the force that makes you cry at beauty, rage at injustice, or light up with joy at connection.
Think about what the heart actually does in your body. It pumps blood to all organs, all limbs, all cells. It does not hoard. It circulates. The Heart language works the same way. It is the part of you that circulates life force through connection, creativity, and honest expression.
Heart is your language of connection
Emotions, creativity, art, music, passion, desire, vulnerability, play, connection with people AND animals, self-expression, and the fire that makes life vivid. All of it belongs to Heart.
Heart is FAST and VOLATILE. It changes constantly based on what is happening: someone smiles and your heart warms; someone betrays you and your heart burns with rage; you create something and your heart swells with pride. This reactivity is not a flaw. It is Heart's essential nature. It is what makes life vivid, magnetic, and worth living.
Heart is not just "being emotional." It includes the way you light up when a song moves you. The warmth you feel toward your dog. The urge to paint, write, dance, or build something beautiful for no reason at all. It is what makes you reach out to a friend when you have not talked in months. It is the part of you that cries at movies, laughs until your stomach hurts, and falls in love with a place the moment you arrive.
Heart is also desire. What you want, what you long for, what pulls you forward. Passion is Heart territory. So is play. When you lose track of time because you are so absorbed in something joyful, that is Heart running the show.
Heart's Core Function
Heart responds to experience. It takes in what is happening: connection, loss, beauty, conflict, and generates immediate emotional responses. These responses are relational; they arise in connection to others, to life, to creation. Heart is never static. It is the living flame that reacts to fuel.
While Mind creates stories about experience and Body senses it directly, Heart feels it. When you are moved to tears by a piece of music, that is Heart: pure emotional response without words. When you feel a rush of warmth seeing an old friend, that is Heart. When anger surges through you at injustice, that is Heart responding to what it knows is wrong.
Heart's Unique Gift
The ability to make life worth living. Heart provides the emotional texture that transforms existence from mere being into vivid experience. It is what makes you cry at beauty, laugh with friends, create with passion, love deeply, fight for what matters. Without Heart, life would be information without feeling, connection without warmth, creation without fire. Heart is never boring; it is the flame that either burns your life down or makes it magnificent.
Signs your Heart language is strong:
You feel deeply and you are not afraid of those feelings
You create freely, without needing it to be perfect or profitable
You connect authentically. People feel seen around you.
You play. You laugh. You let yourself be silly and unguarded.
You can say "I love you" and "I am hurt" with equal honesty
Animals and children gravitate toward you
Signs your Heart language is neglected:
Numbness. You know you should feel something, but you do not.
Loneliness, even when surrounded by people
No creative outlet. Nothing you do is "just for fun."
Everything feels flat. Days blend together without color.
You cannot remember the last time you were truly moved by something
Relationships feel obligatory rather than nourishing
Expressing feelings authentically, even when it is uncomfortable
Creating from emotional inspiration rather than obligation
Reacting to life's events with immediate feeling
Experiencing the "soundtrack" of being alive: the music underneath everything
The Heart language does not ask you to be emotional all the time. It asks you to be alive. To let things touch you. To express what is real, even when it is messy. And to stay connected to the people, animals, and experiences that remind you why any of this matters.
Before you think, before you feel, before you decide, your body has already responded. Your heart rate shifted. Your shoulders tightened or dropped. Your gut contracted or opened. The Body is your first responder. It processes the world faster than your conscious mind ever will.
Body's Element: Earth
Body belongs to the element of Earth. Think of it: rich soil is fertile ground, health, vitality, resources. Barren ground is depletion, poverty, disconnection from physical needs. Growing plants are development, skill-building, manifestation taking form. Harvest is abundance, fruition, the tangible results of work. Earth represents foundation, stability, cycles, and seasons. It is the ground beneath your feet, the food that sustains you, the resources you build with, the body you inhabit.
The Essence of Body
Body is the vessel of life, the sensory experience of NOW. It is the nervous system, the animal wisdom, the immediate physical knowing that comes BEFORE emotion or thought. Body does not think or witness. It senses, it grounds, it exists. It is the tangible reality of being alive, the direct experience of sensation that anchors us in the present moment.
Body is SLOW and PATIENT. It changes gradually, grows at its own pace, follows natural cycles. You cannot rush a seed to become a tree. You cannot think your way to physical fitness. This patience is not a flaw. It is Body's essential nature. It is what makes life real, grounded, and undeniable.
The Body language speaks through physical sensation, nervous system regulation, movement, rest, nourishment, sensory experience, gut feelings, building and making with your hands, sexuality and sensuality, and your entire relationship with the tangible, material world.
This is far more than "exercise and eat well." The Body language encompasses everything that connects you to being a physical creature in a physical world. The texture of food on your tongue. The feeling of cold water on your skin. The ache in your lower back that has been trying to tell you something for months. The sudden certainty in your gut that something is wrong, even when everything looks fine on paper.
Body's Core Function: The First Responder
Body senses and grounds. It receives raw experience through the nervous system and anchors us in physical reality. Body is the FIRST responder: the nervous system detects danger before Heart feels fear, before Mind creates the story "I am in danger." This immediate, pre-verbal, pre-emotional knowing is Body's domain. While Mind creates stories and Heart responds emotionally, Body experiences directly. When you taste something delicious, that is Body: pure sensory experience without words.
Most people treat the body as a vehicle for carrying around their brain. The Body language asks you to flip that. What if your body is not just a container for your thoughts, but an intelligence in its own right?
Your Body speaks in signals that are unmistakable once you learn to listen. Tension patterns tell you where you are holding stress. Energy levels tell you what is sustainable and what is not. Appetite tells you what you need, not what you want. Sleep quality tells you whether your entire system is in balance or in debt.
Body's Unique Gift
The ability to ground us in reality and experience life directly. Body is the foundation everything else is built upon. Without Body, there is no raw sensation for Heart to respond to, no physical experience for Mind to create stories about, no vessel for Soul to inhabit. Body provides the immediate, sensory, undeniable truth of THIS moment. Body makes life REAL in a way nothing else can.
"I tend this vessel, but I am not this vessel." The ultimate Body mastery: recognizing the body as temporary form that changes and sheds while you remain. You are the same YOU at seven months and seventy years, even though no physical cell is the same.
Recognition: You are in Body Language when...
Experiencing direct physical sensation: taste, touch, temperature, movement
Grounded in present moment through physical awareness
Working with your hands, building, creating tangible things
Engaging in physical activity or athletics
Managing resources, money, practical matters
Tending to health, nutrition, physical needs
Sensing immediate knowing through physical intuition: gut feeling, hair standing up, body saying "yes" or "no"
Signs your Body language is strong
You sleep well consistently, waking rested without an alarm
You move your body daily because it feels good, not because you should
You trust your gut instincts and act on them
You feel at home in your own skin
You eat when hungry, stop when full, and can tell the difference between emotional and physical hunger
You notice tension or discomfort early, before it becomes pain or illness
You can be fully present in sensory experiences without needing to document or analyze them
Patient with physical reality's natural pace, not fighting or rushing what takes time
Connected to earth and natural cycles, seasons, and rhythms
Signs your Body language is neglected
Chronic tension, headaches, or pain that you have normalized
Poor sleep that you manage with caffeine, screens, or willpower
Ignoring hunger, thirst, or the need to use the bathroom because you are "in the zone"
Living from the neck up, disconnected from physical sensation
Needing external cues (apps, schedules, other people) to know when to eat, rest, or move
Using substances (sugar, alcohol, caffeine, screens) to manage energy instead of listening to fatigue
Treating your body as a problem to solve rather than an intelligence to listen to
Quick check
Right now, as you read this: Can you feel your feet on the floor? Can you feel where your body is making contact with whatever you are sitting on? Notice what your shoulders are doing. That awareness, that split-second of returning to your body, is the Body language speaking. This is Body's domain: the immediate, sensory, undeniable truth of right now.
Soul is the depth beneath. The unchanging awareness that anchors being. It is the capacity for pure presence, the silent knowing that exists before thought, emotion, or sensation. Soul does not think, react, or sense. It IS being itself. It is the witness, the container, the still point from which all experience arises and to which all experience returns.
Soul is DEEP and TIMELESS. It exists beneath the surface activity of Mind, Heart, and Body: unchanging while everything changes, silent while everything screams, still while everything moves. This depth is not a flaw. It is Soul's essential nature.
The Soul speaks in whispers, not arguments
Your Mind gives you reasons. Your Heart gives you feelings. Your Body gives you sensations. Your Soul gives you knowing. It does not argue its case. It simply presents the truth and waits to see if you are listening.
Soul's element: Water
Each of the four languages is connected to an element. Mind is Air. Heart is Fire. Body is Earth. And Soul is Water. The element is the key to understanding how Soul moves, stagnates, and transforms.
Water represents the flowing, reflective, dissolving nature of Soul. It mirrors experience without being changed by it. It dissolves the illusion of separation. And it holds the paradox of being both drop and ocean: simultaneously individual and part of the whole.
The six states of Soul's water
Clear flowing water = Soul moving freely, alive, vital. You are connected to depth and it nourishes your daily life. Water must move to stay vital.
Still deep lake = Profound depths, silent knowing, the witnessing presence. The stillness that holds wisdom. Not stagnation, but the kind of depth that reveals what lies beneath the surface.
Stagnant swamp = Soul unexplored, ignored, toxic from lack of movement. When you never go beneath the surface, the depths turn murky. What could nourish you starts to poison you instead.
Turbulent ocean = Going too deep too fast, overwhelmed by depths. Spiritual intensity without grounding. The depths are real, but you are drowning in them rather than swimming.
Frozen ice = Complete detachment, nihilism, disconnection from all. The water has stopped moving entirely. Nothing flows, nothing reflects, nothing connects. Cold and impenetrable.
Evaporating mist = Spiritual insights not integrated or shared. Beautiful but formless. The wisdom rises but never condenses into anything you can hold, use, or live by.
Notice which state resonates most with where you are right now. Not where you want to be. Where you actually are. That recognition is the beginning of Soul work.
Soul's core function
Soul anchors being. It provides the witnessing awareness, the spacious presence in which all other languages can exist and be experienced. Soul is not passive witnessing. It is active BEING, anchoring you to yourself, to the collective, to the earth, to all that is across time.
Soul holds the silent knowing that does not need words, the intuitive truth that exists before explanation. When you have a deep knowing that something is true without being able to explain why, that is Soul. When you feel connected to something larger than yourself, that is Soul. When you experience the paradox of being both individual and part of the whole, that is Soul's domain.
The Soul language is what gives the other three languages their context. Mind without Soul is efficiency without direction. Heart without Soul is connection without depth. Body without Soul is action without purpose. Without Soul, there would be thoughts without awareness, emotions without witness, sensations without consciousness experiencing them. Soul is the "why" underneath everything else.
Soul's unique gift
The ability to provide the ground of being from which everything else arises. Soul is the foundation of foundations: the witnessing awareness, the unchanging presence, the connection to WHOLENESS that gives all other experiences meaning.
"I am both the drop and the ocean."
This is Soul's ultimate truth. You are uniquely, irreducibly you AND part of everything. Soul holds this paradox without needing to resolve it. It is the constant beneath the variables, the still point in the turning world, the part of you that makes you YOU across all changes.
Recognition: you are in Soul language when...
Experiencing deep peace or stillness beneath activity
Accessing silent knowing or intuition without words
Feeling connected to something larger than yourself
Witnessing your thoughts, emotions, sensations without being them
Experiencing the paradox of individual and collective simultaneously
Sensing meaning or purpose beyond immediate experience
At peace with not-knowing, holding questions without needing answers
Signs your Soul language is strong
You trust your intuition, even when it contradicts logic. You feel a sense of purpose that does not depend on external validation. You have rituals that ground you, whether that is morning meditation, a walk in nature, journaling, or prayer. You experience moments of awe regularly. You can sit in silence without reaching for your phone. You make decisions that align with your values, even when they are not the "smart" choice. You feel connected to something larger, however you define that. Your water is flowing, clear, and alive.
Signs your Soul language is neglected
Everything feels pointless. You can articulate your goals but none of them excite you. You feel purposeless or adrift, even when life looks good on paper. You have existential dread that you push down with busyness. You cannot remember the last time you felt genuine awe. You ignore your intuition and then regret it. You have no rituals, no practices, nothing that connects you to depth. Everything is surface-level, transactional, and empty. Your water has gone stagnant.
Soul neglect is invisible from the outside
You can have the successful business, the relationship, the health routine, and still feel hollow. That hollowness is your Soul language going unspoken (it can become depression if left unattended). It is the deepest part of you saying "this is not enough" while the rest of the world says "you should be grateful."
